Title III Focus

Cuyahoga Community College has identified a critical need to support the enhancement, and in many cases, fill the gaps in our infrastructure to better support students taking, and faculty teaching fully distance programs (eLi).

Four key problems were identified:

(1) low persistence rates for students,
(2) more professional development needed for faculty to teach distance learning,
(3) quality in distance learning is inconsistent,
(4) there are significant gaps in infrastructure.

The Activity was designed around addressing these programs in alignment with the College’s mission, goals, and objectives. The overall Activity goal is to improve student retention, success, persistence, in eLi courses, and eventually fully online degree programs.

Welcome to the Title III Grant Blog for Cuyahoga Community College. As of October 1st, 2008, we received an award of 2 million dollars to enhance distance learning at the College over the course of the next 5 years.

Dr. Christina Royal, the Project Director for Title III, has won the 2012 United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) Award for Outstanding Leadership by an Individual in the field of Distance Learning.

Tri-C is Ohio’s oldest and largest public community college, opening in 1963. The College serves more than 55,000 credit and non-credit students annually. More than 700,000 area residents have attended Tri-C.
